Chili Spice Blend

No good chili can be made without a banging blend!  Here's the blend I made for my Texas Style Chili.  It's smoky, packed with umami and will bring great color and flavor to any dish. 

 

The secret to this blend?  Sazón baby! 

Adds color and that "yum-yum get you some" vibe.  Here's the lineup.

 

Ingredients:

  • 3 pkts - Sazón Seasoning

  • 3 Tbsp. - Seasoning Salt

  • 3 Tbsp. - Paprika

  • 2 Tbsp. - Cocoa Powder

  • 1 Tbsp. - Mustard Powder

  • 1 Tbsp. - Ground Cumin

  • 1 Tbsp. - Chili Powder

  • 1 Tbsp. - Garlic Powder

  • 1 Tbsp. - Onion Powder

  • 1 Tbsp. - Black Pepper (table grind)

  • 1/2 Tbsp. - Oregano

  • 1/2 Tbsp. - Basil

  • 1 tsp. - Cayenne

  • 1 tsp. - Nutmeg

  • 1/2 tsp. Ground Thyme

Instructions:

Measure and mix spices together thoroughly in a bowl.  Store in an air tight container for up to 3 months.  Add this to soups, stews, chili's or any dish that you want that smoky, umami, colorful spice.  Enjoy!
